Getting Started

Getting Started

Follow these steps to get started.

  1. Login at app.puregrant.com. You'll be on your Dashboard. Your features are on the Sidebar, on the left-hand side of the screen.

💡 Pro Tip: If you have a Multi-Org subscription (typically for Consultants), you can have as many different organizational profiles as you want. Switch between them by visiting the upper right-hand side of your screen. 🎥 Watch a quick video here.

  2. Upload Recent, Relevant Documents

Add current materials to your File Library to give PureGrant the most accurate and useful information to work with. Examples include recent grant applications, recent final reports to funders, program or project summaries, annual reports, PDFs of website copy, donor letters, board lists.

💡 Pro Tip: The more recent and detailed your documents, the more precise and persuasive your AI-generated content will be.

  1. Review Your Content Library
After uploading your documents, take a moment to review the extracted knowledge items in your Content Library. Manually add any important information that may not have been captured.

💡 Pro Tip: Think about the details funders often ask for — such as evaluation methods, key metrics, or specific community impact stories — and make sure they’re represented in your Content Library. Remember, if it's not in your Content Library, PureGrant can't include it in any content it generates!

Feature Overview

Knowledge Base

Your Knowledge Base contains two things:

  • Files — documents you uploaded when you signed up (or anytime afterward)

  • Content Library — text excerpts (“knowledge items”) pulled from those files

Think of your Content Library as PureGrant’s brain. When you ask PureGrant to draft something, it pulls information from here to ensure responses are accurate and aligned with your organization’s voice.

💡 Pro Tip: Update your Content Library regularly with the latest program details, impact stats, and success stories. This ensures your AI-generated drafts are relevant and compelling.

Content Creation

With PureGrant, you can create letters (proposals, LOIs, thank-yous, reports) and applications (tailored answers to questions). Don't let the name "applications" fool you — you can generate any question-and-answer document — even final reports!

Letter Writing

This mode generates polished drafts in seconds based on just a few key details you provide in a prompt, such as to whom the letter should be addressed, the purpose of the letter, and any additional information. You can create:

  • Funding proposals

  • Letters of Inquiry (LOIs)

  • Thank-you letters

  • Cover letters for annual reports

  • Grant reports

  • Letters of support or commitment

  • Annual report cover letters

💡 Pro Tip: If you already have a strong past letter, upload it to Files before drafting. PureGrant will mirror your proven style.

Applications

In Application mode, PureGrant generates intelligent, funder-specific answers to your questions. And, despite the name, you can create any question-and-answer document in Applications — even reports!

Two types of applications you can create:

  1. Quick Start — Skips straight to entering questions so you can move fast. Perfect for short applications or when you already have strong program details in your Content Library.

  2. In-Depth — Lets you add program goals, measures, metrics, and other specifics before entering questions. This extra context helps PureGrant produce more targeted, detailed responses.

Two ways to add questions:

  • Manual entry — Type each question along with any word or character limits.

  • Upload and extract — Upload an RFP or application form, and PureGrant will automatically pull out the questions and draft responses.

💡 Pro Tip: For high-stakes grants, use the In-Depth option with the upload feature. That combination gives PureGrant both the funder’s exact language and rich organizational context — resulting in the most tailored drafts.

Once your draft is ready, you can instantly improve it with our AI-powered features (detailed below).

AI Custom Command

This editing tool gives you line-by-line control over your drafts.

Highlight any section — from a single sentence to the full document — and tell PureGrant exactly what to do:

  • Make it shorter or longer

  • Adjust tone (formal, conversational, persuasive)

  • Add specific details or data

  • Clarify and refine wording

💡 Pro Tip: Use AI Custom Command to add a testimonial or metrics of success. No need to specify where it will go; just highlight the whole text and add the prompt. This speeds up the review process and keeps your writing sharp.
